Sculpture Description
Pear
I have always found it curious that a pear’s shape is synonymous with catastrophe. For me, as someone who loves to observe nature, and the form it gives to so many different things, I find the pear to be among the most pleasurable. Like the human body, so often an object of desire, and fascination for artists, the pear seems almost to have been designed to attract our gaze.
“The Affordable Garden Art Exhibition at Showborough House started in 2008. Prizes are awarded for the most outstanding work. The runner up winner of The Sculpture Prize 2010 for her Pear was Marie Shepherd”.
The Pear is a bronze resin with a cold patination and acrylic finish. The sculpture can be moved and is stable in different positions.
